Philadelphia Union announce roster decisions for 2020 season

The Philadelphia Union announced their end-of-season roster decisions on Wednesday. The club confirmed the report from MLSsoccer.com's Tom Bogert that the Union did not pick up Marco Fabian's contract option and will not offer a new contract to Haris Medunjanin.


In addition, Philadelphia announced they have picked up the contract options of Joe Bendik, Cory Burke, Warren Creavalle, Anthony Fontana, Olivier Mbaizo, Mark McKenzie, Michee Ngalina, and Matt Real


Four players have contract offers at present: Ilsinho, Aurelien Collin, Fafa Picault and Jamiro Monteiro.


In addition to Fabian, the Union have declined contract options on Fabinho and RJ Allen.


The Union are coming off their best season to date in MLS, having won an Audi 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs game and finished in third place in the Eastern Conference. Jim Curtin will be back for 2020 as head coach and with Fabian and Medunjanin departing, Philadelphia free up a Designated Player spot and considerable cap space for next season.
