TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Loan, Signing

The Seattle Sounders announced on Thursday that theyā€™ve gotten two deadline-day deals over the line, acquiring central midfielder Emanuel Cecchini on loan from Spanish side Malaga CF with the help of Targeted Allocation Money, and also bringing MLS veteran Luis Silva back to the league after a stint with FC Honka of the Finnish first division.

Both deals were completed prior to Wednesday night's primary transfer window deadline and are pending receipt of the players' respective P-1 Visas and International Transfer Certificates; Cecchini will occupy an international roster spot while on loan through the 2020 season.

ā€œWe are pleased to add a pair of quality players to our roster as the window closes this summer. Emanuel gives us a good, versatile option in the midfield, while Luis provides us another option and some good depth in the attack,ā€ said Sounders GM & President of Soccer Garth Lagerwey in a club release. ā€œCombined with our other signings this season, we feel confident in our position to make a strong run as we approach the final third of the season and playoffs.ā€

Cecchini, 22, is a product of the youth system at Argentine club Banfield who moved across the Atlantic to join Malaga in 2017. Heā€™s since gone out on loan stints to Club Leon in Mexico and back to Banfield, the latter including action in the 2018 Copa Sudamericana.

Silva, 30, notched three goals in 13 appearances in Finland this season, his first European stop in a peripatetic professional career thatā€™s included stints at with Real Salt Lake, D.C. United and Toronto FC over eight seasons in MLS as well as a year with Tigres UANL in Mexico. He has 32 goals and 16 assists in 157 career MLS regular-season games played.
