LAFC sign SuperDraft pick Javier Perez to MLS contract

TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing

LAFC announced on Sunday the signing of rookie midfielder Javier Perez, the club’s third-round (64th overall) SuperDraft selection, after the Spaniard impressed the Black & Gold technical staff during preseason.

Perez, 22, will be added to LAFC’s roster pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P1 Visa.

“Javi showed great potential during the course of the preseason,” said LAFC GM and EVP of Soccer Operations John Thorrington in a club release. “He adapted quickly to the group and we look forward to working with him and seeing his continued progression during the upcoming season.”

A product of CF Valencia’s academy who moved stateside to attend college at the University of Pittsburgh after earning a scholarship through David Villa’s DV7 Soccer Academy, Perez saw action in five of LAFC’s six preseason matches.
