LAFC announced on Wednesday they have signed attacker Shaft Brewer, Jr. after acquiring the MLS rights to him from FC Dallas, in exchange for a 2019 MLS SuperDraft fourth-round pick and $50,000 in General Allocation Money if certain playing conditions are met.

Brewer, 18, joins LAFC after most recently playing for Bundesliga side RB Leipzig's U-19 team, making three appearances and scoring a goal. The Sacramento native has also played in the academies of hometown side Sacramento Republic FC and FC Dallas.

"Shaft is a dynamic and promising player who performed well throughout the preseason," said LAFC executive VP of soccer operations and general manager John Thorrington in a team statement. "We are excited to officially welcome Shaft back to California and to our club."

Brewer is also a US youth international, having represented the country at U-18 and U-20 levels, and is currently playing with the US U-20s in their training camp in Spain.

“Shaft is a young and exciting player who already has gained international experience,” said LAFC head coach Bob Bradley. “We look forward to working with him to further his development with LAFC.”

LAFC are next in action on March 31 in a highly-anticipated game against the LA Galaxy at StubHub Center (3 pm ET | FOX).
