Dave Sarachan doesn’t know what his future holds at US Soccer, but the veteran coach is determined to make the most of his stint as interim US men’s national team manager.
Sarachan will name the roster for the USMNT’s annual January camp on Monday. It’ll be his second camp in change of the national team, which he took over after Bruce Arena resigned after the country failed to qualify for the World Cup and then led to a 1-1 friendly draw at Portugal in November.
Sarachan, who served as an assistant under Arena with the USMNT and for years in MLS, doesn’t know how long he’ll remain in charge of the US, but it’s clear he’s taking his opportunity at the helm of the senior team seriously.
"I don't take it lightly or for granted, the position that I hold at the moment," Sarachan told the LA Times’ Kevin Baxter. "It's the highest you can go and I'm very aware of that and I'm humbled by it.
"I take it very seriously in terms of making sure everything that I do in this position is done for the good of the game and good of the players that are going to be a part of this in the big picture."
