It was another productive round of games for MLSers in international competition.
The stellar form of NYCFC ace Alexandru Mitrita continued for Romania as the attacker opened the scoring for his side in their 1-1 draw against Norway. He scored in both games during this international break as Romania sit third in their qualifying group for the European Championships, though the top two in each group will qualify. They are one point behind Sweden. He now has eight goals in his last nine games for club and country.
Staying in Europe, Finland are on the brink of qualifying for the Euros for the first time in history after beating Armenia 3-0 with the Montreal Impact's Jukka Raitala and Lassi Lappalainen as well as Minnesota United's Robin Lod all in the starting lineup. Lod's club teammate Rasmus Schuller entered off the bench and provided the assist on the final goal.
If they are able to beat Group J bottom-side Liechtenstein at home in November, they'll seal qualification to the Euros. It would be the first time the Scandinavian country qualified for a major tournament.
Vancouver Whitecaps left back Ali Adnan started and added an assist in Iraq's 4-0 win over Cambodia in World Cup Qualifying while teammate Inbeom Hwang started for South Korea in their friendly against North Korea.
The United States U-23 side relied on heavy contributions from MLSers, as Brooks Lennon, Jonathan Lewis and Mason Toye scored goals in the U-23's 6-1 win over El Salvador. Djordje Mihailovic added a pair of assists as well.
