Houston Dynamo after Peruvian goalkeeper? Reports may not be accurate

Carlos Caceda - Peru

TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report

Is yet another "Panther" headed to the Bayou City? Not so fast.

A rising Peruvian national team goalkeeper has been linked to the Houston Dynamo by a publication in his homeland, but team sources indicated to MLSsoccer.com that the report was inaccurate.

Libero had reported on Tuesday that Carlos Caceda, a 26-year-old shot stopper with several Peru caps who recently signed with Mexico's Tiburones de Veracruz, is likely to go out on loan and that the Dynamo had offered to bring him to MLS.

Nicknamed La Pantera ("The Panther") much like Dynamo star striker Alberth "La Panterita" Elis, Caceda made a name at Peruvian heavyweights Universitario over several years and is now seeking to earn a spot on his country's 2018 World Cup squad.

Peru defeated New Zealand in an intercontinental playoff late last year to earn a trip to Russia, their first such qualification in decades. Peruvian internationals already in MLS include Orlando City's Yoshimar Yotun and Vancouver Whitecaps star Yordy Reyna
