TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report

D.C. United is considering a reunion with onetime academy and first-team star Andy Najar, according to a Saturday report from Steven Goff of The Washington Post.

Najar returned to MLS last season with LAFC after a 126-match stint with Belgian side Anderlecht, featuring in eight games for Bob Bradley's side before becoming a free agent after his contract option was declined. With his next stop undetermined, Goff relayed that D.C. general manager Dave Kasper and Najar’s agent have confirmed there is interest in bringing Najar back to the place where he started his career.

Najar played his youth soccer with D.C. before joining the first team in 2010 and establishing himself as one of the league's top young talents. He was the MLS Rookie of the Year in 2010 and became a standout contributor from his right back spot and a regular on the international scene for Honduras before he was sold to Anderlecht.

He also shined in Belgium before his career was stalled by a rash of injuries, but Najar is still just 27 and the familiarity with the club and area could make for an ideal location for him to reset. For his MLS career, Najar has scored 10 goals and dished out 12 assists in 90 games.
