TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing

The New York Red Bulls have acquired French left back Jason Pendant from FC Sochaux, the club announced Tuesday.

Pendant, 23, has made 72 appearances for the club in Ligue 2 in his career, including 17 this year. He also was capped regularly at various French youth national team levels, most recently with the U-18s.

“We are pleased to welcome Jason to our club,” sporting director Denis Hamlett said in a statement. “In scouting Jason, we saw all the qualities of a Red Bull player, and we were extremely impressed with him during the interview process. He is a bright, mature young man that became a leader at Sochaux despite his young age. We look forward to getting him acclimated to our team and our league.”

Pendant joins as the club's third left back, alongside Homegrown standout John Tolkin as well as first-round SuperDraft selection Patrick Seagrist, who started the club's first two matches this season at the position. The club moved on from stalwart Kemar Lawrence this winter, who was transferred to RSC Anderlecht in Belgium.

“Jason is a player that we think will fit well in our philosophy and team,” said Chris Armas. “Jason is an outside back that can both defend and attack.  We are excited with the opportunity to work with him and he is another example of our team getting stronger.”
