Five MLS pros called up to US U-20s for friendlies in Slovenia

Cole Bassett - Colorado Rapids - isolated

Tab Ramos has called up 22 players to the US U-20 national team for a pair of September friendlies in Slovenia, and the crop includes five players signed to MLS deals.

Current first-team players David Ochoa (Real Salt Lake), Cole Bassett (Colorado Rapids), Justin Haak (NYCFC) and Thomas Roberts (FC Dallas) have been named to the roster. So has George Campbell, who inked a Homegrown deal with Atlanta United in early July that will take effect for the 2020 season.

In addition to the professional quintet, an additional three players are in MLS academy ranks at present, and some of the remaining players have previous MLS academy experience.

The US U-20s will play Sept. 5 against Croatia and Sept. 9 against the United Arab Emirates U-23 squad in Rogaska Slatina, Slovenia. The camp and matches kickstarts the new U-20 cycle for the USMNT following this summer's U-20 World Cup in Poland, where they reached the quarterfinal round for the third straight time.
