San Jose Earthquakes' Anibal Godoy undergoes surgery, out six weeks

San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Anibal Godoy underwent surgery to remove scar tissue in his abdomen that was impairing bilateral nerves, the club announced Wednesday. He's expected to miss six weeks. 


Godoy suffered the injury ahead of the Gold Cup, as Panama have qualified for the knockout round despite his absence. 


The 29-year-old has been an important figure under new coach Matias Almeyda, starting 13 matches for San Jose this year. He has made 99 appearances since joining the club in 2015. 


He has made 97 appearances with Panama.
