Report: Richie Williams set to join Bruce Arena's Revolution coaching staff

Richie Williams as USMNT assistant

It looks like Bruce Arena is getting the band back together.

Richie Williamsā€™ rumored move to join Arenaā€™s coaching staff at the New England Revolution appears to be imminent.

The Washington Post reported on Friday that Williams is set to leave Loudoun United, D.C. Unitedā€™s USL Championship affiliate to reunite with Arena. Williams reportedly told his players Friday. Because Williams is still under contract, Loudoun United is set to receive some compensation from the Revs.

Williams, who was hired as Loudoun Unitedā€™s first coach in January, has long been connected with Arena, first playing for him at the University of Virginia and then with D.C. United. He was an assistant under Arena at the New York Red Bulls and the US men's national team.

Steven Goff also reports Curt Onalfo, who has also had a longtime connection with Arena, will become the Revs technical director following the FIFA U-20 World Cup where heā€™s working with the US team.

The Athleticā€™s Paul Tenorio was the first to report this last week.
