BRUCE ARENA SETS SIGHTS ON COACHING WIN RECORD WITH REVOLUTION
When Bruce Arena on Tuesday was named head coach and sporting director of the New England Revolution, he again set course on becoming the all-time winningest coach in Major League Soccer history.
Arena has 202 career wins in regular season play over his 14 seasons at the helm, one of just two coaches in league history having hit the double-century mark in wins, behind only the late Sigi Schmid, the all-time leader with 240.
With the Revolution, Arena takes charge of his fourth MLS team, tied for the most of any coach in league history. Also serving as bench boss of four different clubs is Bob Bradley, currently head coach of the Los Angeles Football Club, who is fourth on the all-time list with 148 career league wins, as well as Thomas Rongen.
The naming of Arena as head coach of the Revolution marks the third coaching change in MLS this season. The most in any one season came a year ago, when six coaching changes were made over the course of the season.

Arena will be aiming to bring the Revolution back to MLS Cup, which they have reached five times, tied for second-most of any club in league annals, yet still to win the MLS title. Arena has won MLS Cup on five occasions – the most of any coach in league history – and his seven appearances in the championship match are also the most of any head coach.

LARENTOWICZ BECOMES FIFTH PLAYER IN MLS HISTORY TO REACH 400 GAMES
With his appearance for Atlanta United on Sunday afternoon, Jeff Larentowicz became the third outfield player – and just the fifth player in MLS history – to reach the 400-game mark.
Larentowicz began his career in 2005, when he made one appearance that season after being selected in the fourth round of the MLS Supplemental Draft (the eighth overall draft round that year). Atlanta United are his fifth club, where he won a second MLS Cup (also winning in 2010 with the Colorado Rapids).
The all-time leader among field players is Kyle Beckerman of Real Salt Lake, who has played in 472 matches over his career which this year reached 20 seasons – the most in MLS history.
The all-time record for games played is held by goalkeeper Nick Rimando, now with 492 appearances, also this year in his 20th season in Major League Soccer.

GETTING RESULTS MATTERS: NO DRAWS IN WEEK 11
For the 16 matches played in Week 11 in Major League Soccer, every single one ended with a winner. That equals the most games played without a draw over a single match week in MLS history, with 16 matches also played from June 20-26, 2016.
It was the second time this season a match round was completed without a draw, with 13 matches played from April 17-21 without the teams ending in a tie.
With points more and more at a premium with the league’s new playoff system, draws are at their lowest level in the past decade, with just slightly more than 20 percent of the matches thus far this season having ended in a deadlock. The three lowest percentages of draws over the course of a season all occurred from 2000-2002 – the first three seasons where matches could end in a draw in MLS history, and all three seasons where extra time was played in the regular season in the event of a tie score at 90:00.

ATLANTA UNITED MAKE HISTORY WITH FOURTH SHUTOUT WIN IN ROW
Atlanta United added to their already historic legacy this past weekend following their 1-0 victory against Orlando City SC at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
The win was Atlanta United’s fourth in a row by shutout – matching the all-time MLS record set on eight previous occasions. Two teams performed the feat a year ago – New York City FC and Sporting Kansas City; no team has ever won five consecutive matches by shutout. The all-time record for consecutive shutouts was set by the Houston Dynamo in 2007, with seven (going 5-0-2 over that streak).

• D.C. United have won back-to-back games for a second time this season, defeating Sporting Kansas City by the game’s lone goal at Audi Field on Sunday evening. It was a second consecutive home victory, both over a five-day span, on the heels of a three-game winless skid in D.C.
  
• The teams met twice a season ago. D.C. United won the inaugural meeting in the series at Audi Field, taking a 1-0 win on Oct. 17 through a Wayne Rooney goal. On June 13, each team scored in the 90th minute or later, leaving the clubs in a 4-4 draw on June 13 at BMO Field.
  
• United have come away with points on four of their last six trips to BMO Field, over the past five seasons, including two victories. TFC ended their history at RFK Stadium by coming away with points on four of their final five visits there, before D.C. United’s win in the Audi Field opener last year.

They were the final team to be shut out in MLS this season.
TIMBERS:
With their 11th game of the season at Houston, the Timbers will have surpassed the longest road stand to open a season in MLS history. The previous longest was 10 games, by Sporting Kansas City while awaiting the opening of Sporting Park in 2011; the Timbers will still have one more away match remaining (May 25 at Philadelphia) before making their bow at renovated Providence Park on June 1 vs. the Los Angeles Football Club.
