Atlas and US national team center back Omar Gonzalez is training with his former club LA Galaxy. Why?
There's nothing to it, per the club, as they allow former players to train with the club if they choose. With the Gold Cup starting in a month and Atlas' Liga MX season over, Gonzalez may be looking to stay fit and sharp.
Gonzalez had reportedly been a transfer target for Toronto FC at the end of the Primary Transfer Window, though a move never materialized. TFC GM Ali Curtis would not comment specifically on the player, but indicated the club were content to move on from any player who may have been a target.
“I don’t comment publicly on players that are under contract with other teams, and Omar is under contract with Atlas as my understanding," Curtis told MLSsoccer.com on Wednesday. "With that being said, all of the guys we were looking at this window, I’m comfortable moving on from. Not that to say that they won’t be considered moving forward, but we have a lot of other considerations on players. We’ll pursue those very aggressively."
