TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report
A former Manchester United winger and Portuguese international, who starred at Sporting CP during his teenage years, is interested in joining Major League Soccer. That may cover a couple notable players, but in this case it refers to Nani.
Nani, who returned to Sporting CP in July, is reportedly being shopped around the league, according to Jonathan Tannenwald of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
I don’t normally retweet a lot of European veteran looking to come to MLS rumors, but I actually did hear this a few weeks back from someone who’d know.— Jonathan Tannenwald (@thegoalkeeper) January 28, 2019
I got it off the record at the time, so I kept it quiet. Now it’s gotten out there. https://t.co/wRJoU2sXYC
Nani, 32, has seven goals in 16 league appearances for Sporting this season. He has featured 129 times for the club, but made his name at Manchester United, where he had 40 goals and 73 assists in 230 matches. Nani also featured for Fenerbahce, Lazio and Valencia in recent years.
The report does not clarify which, if any, MLS sides are interested in pursuing the skillful winger.
