TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report
Could one of the biggest names in Dutch soccer be on his way to LAFC? Depends on who you ask.
According to a report out of Holland, longtime Dutch international Wesley Sneijder is looking to join the incoming MLS expansion club from French club Nice.
Sneijder left Turkish club Galatasaray to join Nice over the summer, but has been limited to just eight appearances this season and will miss the next month due to injury.
Dutch outlet Algameen Dagblad reported that Sneijder’s agent Guido Albers flew to the US on Monday to discuss a possible transfer with LAFC. The club were linked with the central midfielder over the summer, but he chose to sign with Nice to maximize his chances of featuring for Holland at the 2018 World Cup. In the meantime, the Netherlands failed to qualify for the World Cup.
But according to The Los Angeles Times' Kevin Baxter on Wednesday, neither LAFC nor their crosstown counterpart, the LA Galaxy, are interested in Sneijder at this time:
Apparently the agent for Dutch international Wesley Sneijder is in L.A. But there is said to be zero interest from both #LAFC and the #LAGalaxy in signing the 33-year-old playmaker, who is with Nice of France's Ligue 1
