LAFC building roster for 2018 inaugural season: Here's where things stand

LAFC's roster build is well underway, with the incoming MLS expansion club filling out their inaugural squad ahead of their league debut next March.

As they continue to make standalone signings, LAFC are also preparing for the MLS Expansion Draft on Tuesday, Dec. 12. They'll make five selections from other MLS rosters in the Expansion Draft, which can be a very valuable mechanism for first year teams. LAFC also hold the first overall pick in the MLS SuperDraft in January; they'll pick last in the MLS Waiver and Re-Entry Drafts.

Expansion teams typically become very active with their signings after the Expansion Draft. 2017 expansion clubs Atlanta United and Minnesota United both made the bulk of their moves following last year's Expansion Draft. The Loons were particularly active after the Expansion Draft, with nearly all of their first year signings coming during or after last December's draft.
