The MLS Disciplinary Committee has suspended D.C. United defender Bobby Boswell, and fined Portland Timbers attacker Lucas Melano and San Jose assistant Ian Russell for actions taken in Week 15 of the MLS season.

Boswell suspended for foul on Bruin

D.C. United defender Bobby Boswell has been suspended for Unitedā€™s match against the New England Revolution on Saturday and issued an undisclosed fine for his foul on Dynamo forward Will Bruin in the 28th minute of D.C.ā€™s scoreless draw at Houston last Saturday.

Boswell raised his knee into Bruinā€™s back and was issued a yellow card on the play. The Disciplinary Committee unanimously ruled that the foul was serious foul play and endangered the safety of an opponent however, suspending Boswell for one match.

Melano fined for embellishment

The Disciplinary Committee unanimously ruled that Portland Timbers attacker Lucas Melano was guilty of embellishment in the ninth minute of Portlandā€™s 2-2 draw at Real Salt Lake last Saturday. He will be issued an undisclosed fine for his action.

Russell fined

The Committee unanimously decided that San Jose Earthquakes assistant coach Ian Russell was in violation of the leagueā€™s policy regarding entering the field of play in the 85th and 90th minutes of San Joseā€™s 2-2 draw at Orlando last Saturday. He will also be issued an undisclosed fine for his actions.
