There doesn’t appear to be any truth to the report claiming that the Houston Dynamo have given Celtic FC permission to speak with head coach Owen Coyle about their manager position, with a Dynamo spokesperson telling MLSsoccer.com on Friday that the club has not been contacted by the Scottish champions.

A report gained steam on Twitter on Thursday claiming that the Dynamo had granted Celtic permission to talk to Coyle about their managerial job, which will be vacant when outgoing head coach Ronny Deila leaves the club following their Scottish Premier League finale on Sunday.

A Scotland native, Coyle is currently in his second season in charge of the Dynamo. He had a long playing career in Scotland before transitioning into coaching in 2005, managing Scottish club St. Johnstone and English teams Burnley, Bolton and Wigan before taking the reins in Houston.

The Dynamo are currently in last place in the Western Conference with eight points through 10 games. They’re scheduled to host Real Salt Lake at BBVA Compass Stadium on Saturday night (8:30 pm ET; MLS LIVE).
