Chivas USA midfielder Marco Delgado will miss the remainder of the 2014 season after undergoing successful knee surgery Tuesday to repair a lateral meniscus tear suffered in the Goats’ 4-0 loss Sept. 12 to Sporting KC.

According to a team release, Delgado will be away from the soccer fields from four to six weeks.

In just his second season after signing a Homegrown player contract in 2012, Delgado had featured prominently in Wilmer Cabrera’s side starting 12 games in 20 appearances. He tallied two goals and provided one assist in the current MLS campaign.

Most recently, Delgado scored a goal in a full shift Sept. 3 in a 4-2 loss against the Seattle Sounders.
