What should be the cut-off age for collecting World Cup Panini stickers?

Eyes on the Prize

Are they on or off the plane to Brazil? That’s the discussion USMNT fans are having about most players after the final tuneup before World Cup camp vs. Mexico. Sporting Kansas City captain Matt Besler, who had one of the better showings vs. El Tri, joins us to talk about the game and he also defends the performance of his partner Omar Gonzalez. And just in time for SKC-RSL, we ask Besler whether the MLS Cup 2013 grudge match is officially a rivalry and whether the bad blood has spilled over into US camp. Spoiler alert: Maybe it has.

There’s no disputing Portland vs. Seattle is an established MLS rivalry, but is there more to it than merely soccer? We speak to Professor Carl Abbott from Portland State University, who’s an expert on the history and relationship between the two cities. If you’ve never understood why it’s so heated between the Cascadia rivals, you’ll finally get your answer.

Also on the show, we talk US kit identity, the best midfield partner for Michael Bradley and we meet a fan who plants MLS trading card sets to spread his soccer passion. Speaking of collector’s items, if you’re all about the next World Cup sticker book, we want to hear from you. There may be some trades we can work out.
