Dom Dwyer scores four goals, adds assist as Orlando City top Charlotte in wild USL PRO title game

Dom Dwyer celebrates yet another goal for Orlando City

Sporting Kansas City loaned forward Dom Dwyer back to Orlando City for Saturday's USL PRO championship match. Orlando are pretty thankful for the gesture.

Dwyer scored four goals and added an assist as the Lions defeated the visiting Charlotte Eagles 7-4 in a wild one in front of 20,886 fans at the Citrus Bowl, helping Orlando City to their second USL PRO title in the past three years.

The English striker got to work in the 33rd minute, scoring the first of his four tallies. The two teams traded the lead back and forth, but Dwyer was relentless in the attack, forcing Charlotte to press further up the field and answer his strike rate.

Despite being 2-2 at halftime, Orlando’s intensity was too much for the Eagles as they fell victim to the pressure in the second half. After a flurry of goals, the Lions pulled ahead in the 69th minute, again courtesy of Dwyer, and they didn’t look back.

Sporting KC’s Christian Duke also featured for the Lions. Dwyer is the 2013 co-Golden Boot winner with 15 goals scored in his 13 games played.
