Turning to the Bundesliga, Jermaine Jones worked 78 minutes in Schalke's 2-0 defeat away to league leaders Bayern Munich. The hosts hit twice inside three minutes near the hour to deal the Miners their first loss of the season.
North of the border in Denmark's Superliga, Michael Parkhurst went 82 minutes in a 1-1 home draw with Randers FC. Charlie Davies was an unused sub for the visitors, who halted a three-game losing slide.
In Belgium, Sacha Kljestan made a late cameo as Anderlecht posted a 3-2 win at Zulte-Waregem. The win pulled the Mauves to within a point of the top.
In Spanish second flight action, Carlos Bocanegra made a sterling debut in defense as Racing Santander won 1-0 at Mirandes. The victory lifted Los Verdiblancos to break-even after six matches.
