Almost as quickly as the rumor started, New York Red Bulls head coach Jesse Marsch put the kibosh on reports that the club was interested in Italian international forward Dani Osvaldo.
On Friday morning, Argentine publication Olé reported that the Red Bulls were interested in the 29-year-old, who was born and raised in the South American country, but opted to represent the nation of his ancestery.
However, Marsch rejected the notion while talking to reporters at Red Bulls training on later that day:
When asked about Osvaldo, a former Roma teammate of Michael Bradley and one of a number of players the Red Bulls have recently been linked to, Marsch reportedly joked, "Who is that?" before admitting, “Yes, I know who that is. There's nothing to comment on. The fact that I didn't know the player I think should be telling.”
