Kelyn Rowe is headed to Sporting Kansas City, Edgar Castillo to the New England Revolution and Diego Rubio to the Colorado Rapids after a pair of trades announced on Tuesday by the involved clubs.

In the first move, the Revs acquired the fullback Castillo in a direct swap for Rowe. The Rapids then flipped Rowe, $200,000 of General Allocation Money and $100,000 in Targeted Allocation Money to Kansas City to acquire Rubio.

Rowe arrives in Kansas City after seeing his playing time in the midfield reduced last season in New England under first-year coach Brad Friedel, making only 21 appearances (including 18 starts). Over seven MLS seasons, all with the Revs, Rowe has 29 goals and 40 assists in 206 appearances. However, he scored only once in each of his last two seasons while being called to fill a range of roles, and also had a career-low two assists in 2018.

Rubio is coming off his most productive MLS season, scoring eight goals and contributing six assists for SKC despite making 11 of his 20 appearances as a substitute. He averaged 0.92 goals per 90 minutes in his third year in the league.

Castillo, the oldest player involved in the pair of transactions at age 32, made 28 starts for Colorado under Anthony Hudson in his debut MLS season following a long career in Liga MX.
