Seattle MLS Cup goal celebrations created measurable earthquake tremors

If you were there, you probably felt the earth shaking when the Seattle Sounders scored each of their goals during Sunday's 3-1 MLS Cup triumph over Toronto FC before a sell-out and raucous crowd at CenturyLink field.

Turns out, so did the people who measure seismologic activity â€” also known as earthquakes.

The Pacific Northwest Seismic Network set up equipment for measuring such phenomena in two locales around CenturyLink field. And sure enough, those instruments registered quite a disturbance immediately following each goal.

The network has previously conducted similar experiments around games of the NFL's Seattle Seahawks, who share CenturyLink Field with the Sounders. For more information, check out this piece on CNN.com.
