A crucial match in the Western Conference is ahead on Viernes de Fútbol when Real Salt Lake play host to the San Jose Earthquakes at Rio Tinto Stadium. The teams sit on opposite sides of the red line, separated by just five points in the conference standings. Real saw their winless run extended to five games last weekend, playing to a scoreless draw with the New England Revolution on their home ground. The Quakes improbably snapped a seven-game winless run of their own, going down two men yet coming back for a 2-1 win over Toronto FC on Saturday evening at Avaya Stadium.

- Real Salt Lake had their winless streak extended to five matches, with a third draw in that time, following their goalless result with the New England Revolution on Saturday evening at Rio Tinto Stadium.
- The Earthquakes went two men down – and still claimed a 2-1 win against Toronto FC on Saturday evening at Avaya Stadium, snapping their two-game losing slide and winning for the first time since May 11 (seven games). The Quakes became the 13th team in MLS history to win a game after receiving two or more red cards, the first since 2004 to score the winning goal after playing nine men vs. 11.
