Kamara, Zimmerman bound for new pastures following active Half Day Trade Window
During Sunday’s Half Day Trade Window, a number of clubs made significant moves in preparation for the 2018 campaign. Among the highlights kicking off the day was a move sending veteran forward
Kei Kamara
bound for Vancouver Whitecaps FC after the New England Revolution traded him for Vancouver’s natural No. 1 pick in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft and conditional second-round pick in the 2020 SuperDraft. Kamara is coming off a 12-goal, five-assist 2017 with the Revs, and he enters 2018 just two tallies shy of reaching 100 career goals.
Expansion Los Angeles Football Club made their first trade this offseason, acquiring defender
Walker Zimmerman
from FC Dallas. Dallas traded Zimmerman and its No. 11 position in the MLS Allocation Ranking for $250,000 in General Allocation Money, $250,000 in Targeted Allocation Money and the No. 1 position in the MLS Allocation Ranking. The 25-year-old Zimmerman spent the past five seasons in Dallas and was part of a back line that conceded the fourth-lowest goals total in the Western Conference in 2017.

Darren Mattocks
going from the Portland Timbers to D.C. United and midfielder
Arturo Alvarez
leaving the Chicago Fire to join his hometown Houston Dynamo. Chicago traded Alvarez for Houston’s natural second-round pick in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft and D.C. traded a 2018 international roster spot for Mattocks.
Both Mattocks and Alvarez helped their sides to strong regular-season performances in 2017. Mattocks and the Timbers finished atop the Western Conference while Alvarez and the Fire took third in the Eastern Conference.

The MLS offseason is in full swing following the 2017 MLS Cup, and 2018 newcomers Los Angeles Football Club will be in the limelight this week with the MLS Expansion Draft on Tuesday (2 p.m. ET). Head coach

will help shape their roster during the
11th MLS Expansion Draft
as LAFC may select up to five players from a
pool of more than 300 eligible players
. All 22 current MLS clubs submitted their 11-man protected player lists on Sunday.
MLSsoccer.com will provide comprehensive live coverage of the Expansion Draft, with Calen Carr and Susannah Collins on site in Los Angeles to conduct interviews and show fan reaction. Andrew Wiebe, Matt Doyle and special guest Ali Curtis will host the show from Major League Soccer’s New York City studio.

MLS WORKS, TFC Unveiled Renovations at WoodGreen Community Services
In conjunction with Saturday's 2017 MLS Cup, MLS WORKS and Toronto FC collaborated with WoodGreen Community Services to renovate a multi-purpose room to be used by hundreds of teens and young adults served by WoodGreen Community Services.
