RFK STADIUM, Washington, D.C.
APRIL 9, 2016 (WEEK 6, MLS GAME #46)
5:30 pm ET (TSN, MLS LIVE, ABC 7)

An intriguing interconference matchup is ahead when D.C. United return home to meet Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Saturday afternoon at RFK Stadium. United are still looking for their first victory in league play this season, pulled back into a 1-1 draw at the San Jose Earthquakes last weekend in northern California. Whitecaps FC have put together a three-game undefeated run after a slow start of their own, reaching a goalless draw with the LA Galaxy last Saturday evening at BC Place.

  • D.C. United held a lead for the first time since early in the season opener, but were still left looking for their first win of 2016 after the San Jose Earthquakes hit for a late equalizer for a 1-1 draw Saturday evening at Avaya Stadium.
  • Whitecaps FC extended their undefeated streak to three matches, going a man down but holding out for a point in a scoreless draw with the LA Galaxy on Saturday evening at BC Place.
  • D.C. United won the lone meeting between the clubs a year ago, a 2-1 win April 25 at BC Place, their first win vs. Whitecaps FC since a 4-0 victory in the first meeting ever between the clubs on Aug. 13, 2011 at RFK Stadium. Vancouver won two of the four encounters in between, with two draws, including a 1-0 win in 2013 in Washington, D.C. in the only other meeting there.
  • Last year’s result was the first time goals were scored in a meeting at BC Place since 2011. The previous two matchups in British Columbia both ended in scoreless draws.
