2017 MLS Cup Final host to be determined on Wednesday

Marky Delgado - Toronto FC - Wil Trapp - Columbus Crew SC - contest a 50-50 ball

Will Toronto or Columbus host the 2017 MLS Cup Final? We'll find out for certain on Wednesday night.

The Eastern Conference Championship winner is guaranteed to host MLS Cup this year, as both Toronto FC and Columbus Crew SC finished the 2017 MLS regular season with more points than the Western Conference Championship teams, Seattle Sounders and Houston Dynamo. That means, with the aggregate series tied 0-0 through the first leg, the team that prevails in the second leg of the Eastern Conference Championship on Wednesday (7:30 pm ET | FS1 in US, TSN1/4/5, TVAS in Canada) will host the final on December 9.

Interestingly, that means the host will be one of the last two MLS Cup host cities, as Toronto hosted last year's final, won by the Sounders, and Columbus hosted the 2015 final, which was won by the Portland Timbers. Given those road upsets, the host be will looking for redemption this time around. Regardless of which city hosts, it will be the third time either Toronto or Columbus has hosted the title clash. Prior to 2012, the MLS Cup host was predetermined, which usually turned out to be a neutral site.
