Borek Dockal's first season in MLS has been a success for all parties.

The Czech Republic international leads the league in assists (17) with less than three weeks remaining in the season while the Philadelphia Union have clinched a playoff berth. The team has already have earned more points in a season than ever before in their history. As such, sporting director Ernst Tanner would love to keep his No. 10 around next season.

"If we could continue [with him], it would be our first choice, but you know how the business is," Tanner said at a news conference on Wednesday.

Dockal was acquired on loan from Chinese club Henan Jianye and signed a Designated Player contract with the Union three days before the season started.

Prior to joining the Union, Dockal had previous stints at Czech giants Sparta Prague and Slavia Prague, and Norwegian titans Rosenborg as part of his more than 350 professional appearances, scoring 79 goals and contributed 93 assists outside of MLS. He has been capped 35 times by the Czech Republic and has scored six goals.
