Minnesota United's Darwin Quintero is appointment viewing

There can be little doubt: Since his MLS debut back on April 14, Minnesota United's Darwin Quintero has been one of the best players in the league.

In a season when a certain Swede and certain Englishman have stolen a lot of the transfer headlines, the Colombian Quintero has proven to be as good as any new import around since signing as Minnesota's first Designated Player this spring.

Quintero added to his legend in Minnesota with a mazy run in the box through multiple New England defenders to open the scoring on Wednesday night against the Revs (watch goal above).

The former Santos and Club America star has most recently shown an uncanny chipping ability, scoring one of the most belief-defying hat tricks in MLS history:

After Wednesday night's 2-1 win over New England, Quintero has eight goals and four assists for the Loons, with five and two in his last four games as Minnesota tries to stay within touching distance in the Western Conference playoff race.

At this pace, might we be witnessing a potential MVP candidate?
