An experienced forward with nearly a decade of experience in Liga MX, Quintero is the first Designated Player in Minnesota United history. A quick, skillful player, Quintero is a threat to both score and assist in the final third. He usually deploys on the right wing, but can also play as a central attacking midfielder or lead the attacking line.
INTERNATIONAL: Debuted for the Colombian national team on Oct. 11, 2008 and scored his first goal, against Mexico, on Sept. 30, 2009. Has 14 caps for Los Cafeteros, his last coming in September 2012.
OUTSIDE MLS: Quintero was a mainstay in Liga MX since he joined Santos Laguna in 2009 and later moved to Club América in 2014. During his career in Mexico he scored over 100 goals across all competitions and hit double-digit goals in five of seven seasons from 2009-10 to 2015-16.
PERSONAL: Named after famed scientist Charles Darwin, Quintero boasts an apt nickname: El Científico del Gol (The Goal Scientist).
