Report: San Jose on verge of signing Swedish striker Magnus Eriksson

Magnus Eriksson - Malmo FF

TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report

It looks like the Swedish leagueā€™s top scorer is headed to San Jose.

Swedish outlet Expressen reported on Saturday that Djurgardens forward Magnus Eriksson is set for a transfer to the Earthquakes. San Joseā€™s interest in Eriksson was initially reported late last month.

Expressen reported that San Jose and Djurgardens have agreed to a transfer fee around $1.4 million and that Eriksson will sign with the Quakes early this week.

Eriksson, 27, finished 2017 as the co-leading scorer in the Allsvenskan with 14 goals and recorded seven assists in his 29 league appearances. Capable of playing as a striker or on the wing, Eriksson joined Djurgardens in 2016 following stints at Danish club Brondby, Chinese side Beijing Renhe, Swedish club Malmo and Belgian club Gent.

San Jose have been active in the Scandinavian market since they hired Swedish head coach Mikael Stahre, who managed Swedish side Hacken to a fourth-place finish in that countryā€™s top flight last year, in November.
