According to a report by Sports Illustrated’s Grant Wahl, LAFC, which will join MLS in 2018 as the league's 23rd club, is considering hiring former MLS MVP and former Argentina international Guillermo Barros Schelotto as its first coach.
Wahl, citing unnamed sources, said LAFC "have had conversations with [former USMNT coach] Bob Bradley," but described Schelotto as "an emerging candidate."
Schelotto, 43, currently is the manager of Boca Juniors, the club for whom he won 16 Argentine league championships as a player. He played in MLS for four seasons, with Columbus Crew SC, from 2007 through 2010, and led theteam to the MLS Cup title in 2008, when he was voted MLS MVP, named to MLS’s Best XI, and also named MLS Cup MVP. He played in 73 games for the Crew, starting 67, and accumulated 24 goals and 33 assists.
