Vancouver subsequently chimed in Saturday evening, tweeting the following from their official account:

The Uruguyan Designated Player has scored 12 goals in 46 games (39 starts) since joining MLS before the 2015 season. After racing out to five goals in his first six games -- earning Etihad Airways Player of the Month honors -- Rivero's production for Vancouver stalled. He went scoreless in a pair of playoff games last year, and tallied only twice in 12 matches this season, with his starting spot recently in flux.
