"Don't make a bet that you can't keep."
That's what they tell you when you're a kid. If you can't pay up, don't make the bet in the first place.
This is also solid advice even if you're the President of the United States of America. Belgian Prime Minister Elio Di Rupo gave President Barack Obama a crack at the the following wager before the two politicians' respective countries faced one another in the Round of 16 at the 2014 World Cup.
Hey @BarackObama, I am betting some great Belgian beers that our @BelRedDevils will make it to the quarter final! :-) #ComeOnBelgium #BEL

To be fair to President Obama, he kept his end of the bet without ever formally accepting Prime Minister Di Rupo's wager.

Obama was, presumably, sending Di Rupo some "American" beer, so we also ask you this: Is Sam Adams the best representation of "American" beer to send to a foreigner?
