Crew's Rogers added to US roster for Mexico friendly

Columbus Crew midfielder Robbie Rogers has seen a rise in his form in recent weeks.

His resurgence for the Eastern Conference leaders has led to a recall to the US national team for Wednesday’s friendly with Mexico (9 pm ET, ESPN2/Univision, get tickets).

Rogers replaces Rangers midfielder Maurice Edu, who was injured in a friendly against EPL side Chelsea on Saturday in Glasgow. Rangers lost 3-1.

The 24-year-old Rogers has made 18 appearances and 16 starts for Columbus this season, notching two goals. He has started the last six matches and posted two assists as the Crew have vaulted into 1st place in the East.

Rogers has 13 caps with the national team and has scored one goal.
