FC Dallas announced Monday that Douglas Quinn has been named the club's new president and CEO.

FC Dallas have named Douglas Quinn as the clubā€™s new president and chief executive officer, with his tenure with the club set to begin on Aug. 2.

Quinn will be officially introduced in his new role during a press conference at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco on Tuesday at 11 a.m. CT.

Quinn joins FC Dallas after six years as the president of MLS affiliate Soccer United Marketing, where he spearheaded MLSā€™s licensing agreement with adidas, managed the creation of the annual SuperLiga tournament and helped secure the leagueā€™s long-term television agreements with ABC/ESPN, Univision, Fox Soccer Channel and HDNet.

ā€œWe are thrilled to welcome Doug to FC Dallas, and look forward to his leadership of the club for many years to come,ā€ Hunt Sports Group Chairman Clark Hunt said. ā€œAs one of the top executives in professional sports, I am confident that Doug will make FC Dallas the premier club in MLS for our fans and enhance Pizza Hut Parkā€™s standing as one of the elite entertainment venues in the country.ā€

Quinn will relocate from the leagueā€™s New York office to the Dallas area, where he takes charge of an FC Dallas franchise eager to build on their fan base in the North Texas market.

ā€œI am humbled by the opportunity to lead FC Dallas and honored to be a part of the tremendous soccer heritage of North Texas,ā€ Quinn said. ā€œThe Hunt familyā€™s commitment to soccer in the United States paved the way for the success of MLS, and I look forward to building a world-class, championship club for our supporters.ā€

Prior to joining MLS, Quinn served as president of Entertainment Marketing Partners, an entertainment media and corporate consulting firm based in Los Angeles. He also spent 14 years in a number of senior management, marketing and sales positions with the National Football League.

ā€œI am so pleased that Doug will remain in the ā€˜MLS familyā€™ as the president and CEO of FC Dallas,ā€ MLS commissioner Don Garber said. ā€œHis varied experience and strong business skills will help the club become one of the top organizations in MLS.ā€
