At the same time they were tying loose ends to finalize the deal that sent 22-year-old Argentine holding mid Matias Laba to the Vancouver Whitecaps, reports from Argentina indicated earlier this week that Toronto FC were chasing another Argentine holding mid 11 years Laba's senior.
According to Argentina's Mundo D -- a report first picked up by Toronto blog Waking The Red -- TFC and the Montreal Impact have been chasing 33-year-old Belgrano captain Guillermo Farré, with Toronto purportedly taking the lead with a two-year contract offer.
But sources on Wednesday indicated to MLSsoccer.com that those reports of an offer from Toronto are false.

Nonetheless, Farré is quoted in the article as saying that "over vacation we'll see how things progress," in regards to a potential move away from Belgrano to MLS.
He's on vacation after Belgrano finished their Argentine Primera Division season at midtable, in 10th place of the 20-team league, closing out with a 4-0 Saturday romp over Independiente which saw Farré go the full 90.
