Seattle Sounders announce first 2014 home MLS Cup playoff match will take place Monday, Nov. 10

CenturyLink sold out vs. Portland

The Seattle Sounders will kick off their 2014 postseason run with some Monday night futbol.

Though they don't yet know who they'll be playing or what seed they will occupy, the Sounders are already assured of one of the top two spots in the Western Conference, which means the club will host the second leg of their conference semifinals series.

With the second leg set for the weekend of Nov. 8-9 and the Seattle Seahawks set to host the New York Giants at CenturyLink Field on Nov. 9, the Sounders announced on Wednesday that their playoff opener will take place on Monday, Nov. 10. Time, opponent and broadcast information are yet to be determined.

Sounders season-ticket holders can reserve their seats for all potential home playoff matches now, and single-game tickets will go on sale on Oct. 21.

The Nov. 10 match will be Seattle's second Monday-night game of the season. They hosted the LA Galaxy on July 28, a stunning 3-0 win for the Galaxy marked by a power outage that temporarily dimmed CenturyLink's lights during the first half.

The 2014 MLS Cup Playoffs kick off on Oct. 30 with the first of two Knockout Round games between the fourth- and fifth-placed teams in their respective conferences.
