Former Arsenal and England national team left back Kieran Gibbs has verbally agreed to join Inter Miami CF after the 2020-21 Premier League season, according to a report from ESPN FCā€™s James Olley

Olley outlines that Gibbs would sign a two-and-a-half-year deal with Inter Miami, paving the way for a summertime move after his current West Bromwich Albion contract expires. Gibbs was linked to several MLS clubs this past February, so the reported move has been kicking around as a possibility.

Should the 31-year-old come to MLS, heā€™d give Inter Miami a fourth left-back option ā€“ under their current roster framework ā€“ after theyā€™ve already spent this offseason signing former Seattle Sounders starter Joevin Jones (free agent) and trading for Patrick Seagrist from the New York Red Bulls. They also return Brek Shea, who can play at several spots on the left flank.

The move would continue a trend of co-owner and president of soccer operations David Beckham, as well as new head coach Phil Neville, tapping into connections in their home country. This past winter, Inter Miami landed longtime Stoke City captain and center back Ryan Shawcross as they look to put behind a disappointing expansion season in 2020.

During his time with Arsenal, Gibbs won two FA Cups and had six goals and 25 assists in 229 matches for the club. Heā€™s also played in 100 matches for West Brom, though the Baggies seem relegation-bound and sit 19th in the 20-team English top flight.

Aside from Arsenal and West Brom, Gibbs made seven appearances for Norwich City during the 2008 season while on loan. At the international level, heā€™s been capped 10 times by England. He last featured during a November 2015 international friendly against France.
