Shaun Wright-Phillips has followed his brother stateside.
The New York Red Bulls announced on Monday that the English Premier League and 2010 World Cup veteran has joined his brother Bradley – last year's MLS Golden Boot winner – at the club, providing the Red Bulls with another useful option on the wings.
“Shaun is a proven player who has played on soccer's largest stage,” said RBNY sporting director Ali Curtis in a statement. “He can play a number of positions for us and is an excellent fit in our locker room.
“When we evaluated the unique set of circumstances along with the quality that Shaun has, it became apparent that we needed to be aggressive about adding Shaun to our club. We are pleased that he will be wearing a Red Bull jersey and we can't wait for him to take the field.”
The older of the Wright-Phillips brothers has been training with the Red Bulls for several weeks and will be available for selection on Saturday when New York visit the Philadelphia Union at PPL Park (7 pm ET, MLS LIVE).
A native of London, Shaun Wright-Phillips has spent time with Queens Park Rangers (2011-15), Manchester City (1999-05, 2008-11) and Chelsea (2005-08) in the Premier League, winning two FA Cups, a Premier League championship, one League Cup and a Community Shield along the way. He has scored six goals in 36 appearances for the English national team.

The Wright-Phillips brothers will play on the same side for the first time since 2004, when they were both with Manchester City.
