New York Red Bulls Sporting Director Andy Roxburgh will not return to the club in 2015, the team confirmed on Monday.
Hired in November 2012, Roxburgh oversaw the appointment of Mike Petke as the club's head coach and its first league-wide championship, the 2013 Supporters' Shield. According to a club statement, his contract is set to expire.
"After two wonderful seasons with this great club and with my contract at an end, it is time for me to move on to a new challenge," Roxburgh said in the club statement. "When I came to New York, I was given the remit of raising professional standards on the sporting side and bringing success on the field. With the support of everyone at the club, I feel that these objectives have been achieved."
The 71-year-old Roxburgh, a former manager of the Scottish national team, oversaw the club's technical department for the last two years, including the opening of the Red Bulls' training ground in Hanover, New Jersey.
"On behalf of the New York Red Bulls, we want to thank Andy for his contributions during a great two years of service to the club," Red Bulls general manager Marc de Grandpre said in the club statement. "Andy is a true professional, and his influence on the club will be felt for years to come. We wish him all the best going forward."
