The previously struggling Montreal Impact won for the second game in four days, topping Orlando City 1-0 on Sunday. The result also ended the home side's playoff hopes, which has seriously bummed out Lions star Kaka.

FC Dallas defender Walker Zimmerman pitched in with a a strong two-way performance to help the Supporters' Shield leaders post a 1-0 shutout win over visiting LA Galaxy on Saturday.

Red Bulls skipper Dax McCarty put on a star show to guide his team to the top of the East with a 3-2 victory over Philadelphia.


Three in a row


D.C. United continued their hot streak with a 2-1 victory away to Toronto FC. Ben Olsen's men are now in position to set their sights on potentially hosting an Eastern Conference Knockout Round match.


Playoff procedure


After they secured a postseason berth by blanking the Portland Timbers 1-0, the Colorado Rapids were treating it as just another step toward MLS Cup.


Engines Revved


With their three stars leading the way, the New England Revolution pulled to within three points of the last playoff spot in the East with a 3-1 home win against Sporting KC.


Stayin' alive


The San Jose Earthquakes remained in the postseason hunt thanks to a 2-1 victory over guests Real Salt Lake on Saturday night.

Following a 3-0 win over visiting rivals Chicago Fire, Columbus Crew SC boss Gregg Berhalter reminded his charges that they still have hope of making the playoffs, although they'll need to win out and hope for some help.

At the same time, the Red Devils are reportedly scouting Vancouver wunderkind Alphonso Davies.
