The Chicago Fire Soccer Club announced on Thursday that the Fire will welcome for the first time at Toyota Park the 11-time champions in the Primera División in Mexican Soccer, Club Deportivo Guadalajara in an international friendly Presented by Miller Lite on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 9 p.m. ET.
Advance tickets for the Chicago Fire and Chivas de Guadalajara match go on sale Friday, July 15 at noon CT are available by calling 888-MLS-Fire or by visiting www.chicago-fire.com. The international friendly will serve as Bonus Game 1 in the Fire’s Season Ticket Package. Supporters can purchase a ticket for the Fire – CD Guadalajara match by placing a deposit on Chicago Fire Season Tickets for the 2012 season.
One of the most successful clubs to grace the Mexican top flight, Club Deportivo Guadalajara has captured 11 titles in Mexico’s Primera División and has raised two Copa México trophies since its founding in 1906. The world-renowned club known as “las Chivas” or “Rebaño Sagrado” is located in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico and has always remained as one of the top teams in the Primera División.
Chivas del Guadalajara, the only club in Mexico to exclusively field players Mexican players, recently reached the final of the 2010 Copa Libertadores Championship, in which they were crowned as runner up against Internacional of Brazil.
The Fire and Chivas del Guadalajara have only faced each other once previously in an international friendly at Soldier Field Stadium on July 13 of 2000. The Men in Red fell to the Red and White 1-0 in front of 22,260 supporters at the former Fire home.
