Tosaint Ricketts picked a good time to open his goal-scoring account for Hapoel Haifa – even if, in the end, his squad couldn’t make it count.
Ricketts (pictured above) came on as a second-half sub against Beitar Jerusalem on Monday and, in the 82nd minute, scored his first goal of the regular season to knot the score at 3-3. Just three minutes later, however, Lidor Cohen responded with the winner for Beitar Jerusalem.
Marcus Haber didn’t find the back of the net this week, but did have an important role to play for Crewe Alexandra in League One. He notched assists on both of his club’s game-winning goals in victories on Saturday (Colchester United) and Tuesday (Yeovil Town).
David Edgar, much to the relief of Canadian fans, appears to be establishing himself at Huddersfield Town in the Championship. The big man, who joined the club on loan from Birmingham City last month, went the full 90 in a win on Saturday and also came on as a late sub in a loss on Tuesday.
Pedro Pacheco did his regular duty in midfield for Portugal’s Santa Clara, going the full 90 in a 1-1 draw with Farense on Sunday. Atiba Hutchinson, meanwhile, is working his way back into the lineup for Besiktas, coming on as a second-half sub in Sunday’s Super Lig victory over Rizespor.
Keven Aleman also saw some action this week in Costa Rica, where he’s on loan to Belen from Herediano. The youngster came on as a sub in Sunday’s 2-1 loss against Deportivo Saprissa.
A number of other Canadian strikers also saw some time on the pitch this week – Daniel Haber started for Ayia Napa in a loss to Omonia Nicosia in Cyprus, while Simeon Jackson came on as a sub for Coventry City on Tuesday in a 1-1 League One draw with Scunthorpe United.
Iain Hume, making his return to Tranmere Rovers, came on as a second-half sub in League Two games on Saturday and Tuesday, but he didn’t make his way onto the score sheet.
Calum Ferguson, who was with Canada’s Under-20 side last month, didn’t hit the pitch this week, but was in the match-day squad for Inverness on Saturday, as the club sought to earn key points in its battle for the Scottish Premiership title. Inverness notched a 2-1 win over Partick Thistle to sit three points off the top of the table.
