American Exports: Cooper resumes light training

Kenny Cooper suffered a broken right ankle on Thursday in his first training session with 1860 Munich

AMSTERDAM – Recovering 1860 Munich forward Kenny Cooper has resumed light training, giving the club hope he will soon be able to join his teammates for full practice sessions.

The former FC Dallas star, who broke his ankle during the first full scrimmage of the preseason back in July, is continuing to promptly meet his return targets.

"He is training with our physiotherapist one time a day, with balls and everything," Lions press officer Robert Hettich told MLSsoccer.com. "We hope he can be back in the team in a few weeks. Step by step, we are increasing the intensity, so we'll see. Hopefully, in two weeks, he'll be back in team training."

It has been a few days short of a year since Cooper appeared in a 2.Bundesliga match for 1860. Before spending the second half of last season on loan to English side Plymouth, the Texas native scored twice in 12 contests for the Bavarians.

The Allianz Arena blue crew is unbeaten in seven league games heading into Sunday's visit from Alemannia Aachen.
