Longtime nemeses New York Red Bulls and the New England Revolution hope to further secure their playoff hopes when they square off Wednesday night at Red Bull Arena.

The Red Bulls (7W-8L-5D) are coming off a 2-2 draw against Chicago Fire FC at Soldier Field Saturday night, while the Revolution (7W-5L-8D) also rallied for a road draw, taking a point from Nashville SC Friday night.

This is the second meeting this season with the foes sharing the points in a 1-1 stalemate at Gillette Stadium August 29. That was also the scoreline the last time the teams met at Red Bull Arena, with Gustavo Bou scoring the late equalizer August 17, 2019.

New York Red Bulls

For the third consecutive game, the Red Bulls rallied to earn a draw and for the second straight match, Brian White came up with the leveler in second-half stoppage time as New York extended an unbeaten streak to four matches in a 2-2 draw against the Fire at Solider Field.

"I think it shows a lot of resilience, never give up, even when we go down," White said after the match. "We fight to the very last whistle and shows that we're able to score two goals [over the last two matches] in the final minute of the game. Unfortunately, it came down to that kind of situation where we want to win these games instead of just tie, but it shows the character of this team to always fight no matter what."

New England Revolution

The Revs took points from a fourth consecutive road match as Adam Buksa's sensational goal three minutes after Walker Zimmerman broke the scoreless stalemate allowed New England to earn a 1-1 draw with Nashville SC on a rainy Friday night in Music City. Perhaps even more important, influential playmaker Carles Gil came off the bench for a 27-minute shift, first appearance since Achilles surgery in early August. At the time of the surgery, he wasn't expected back on the field for three to five months.

"I feel very happy to have this feeling of being with the team again," Gil said through a translator in the Revs' post-match interview "I've worked very hard for this moment the past two and a half months," adding that the time off the field "had been pretty tough on me, so I'm really glad to be back here."
