From the Red Bull Salzburg bench Sunday, coach Jesse Marsch joined the worldwide call to action against systemic racism.
The former New York Red Bulls coach and longtime MLS player donned a āBlack Lives Matterā armband for his clubās Austrian Bundesliga match against TSV Hartberg.
Marsch, who became the first American-born coach to win a major European trophy by guiding Salzburg to a Austrian Cup victory May 29, moved a step closer to the Austrian double Sunday. Buoyed by a Patson Daka hat trick, Salzburg raced out to a four-goal lead before halftime and cruised to a 6-0 road triumph.
Salzburg moved seven points clear of second-place Wolfsberger with eight games remaining.
